The Montrose American Legion baseball team lost a home doubleheader to Delaware Valley on Saturday, lost in an interleague wood bat game with West Scranton at home on Wednesday and took a 14-5 victory over Honesdale at Blue Ridge on Tuesday night.
On Saturday, the Montrose Sluggers faced a 16-4 loss in the first game, followed by a 10-7 loss in the nightcap from Delaware Valley.
Montrose fell behind early in the first game as DV took a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
Delaware Valley then grabbed another run in the top of the second before Montrose got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to make it 4-2.
The Montrose team continued to struggle as Delaware Valley got another run in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fourth to bring the tally to 7-2.
Montrose scored another run in the bottom of the fifth before Delaware Valley grabbed six in the sixth and three in the seventh before Montrose took another run in the bottom of the seventh for the final 16-4.
Jimmy Churco was the losing pitcher giving up five hits, three earned runs and five walks while striking out four over four innings on the mound.
Billy Laubach, Chris Hackett and Bryan Castrogiovanni all doubled for Montrose.
Against West, Montrose scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning before West Scranton struck with three runs in the third to make it a 3-1 game.
West continued to put up numbers as they scored an additional three runs in the fourth and another run in the top of the sixth to make it 7-1.
Montrose scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 7-2 game but West capped off the win with a four-run top of the seventh.
Kurt Post had two hits and scored a run for Montrose while Hackett was the losing pitcher giving up seven hits, six earned runs and three walks over one and a third innings.
Matt Leet added two hits and an RBI while Laubach had a hit for Montrose.
Honesdale got on the board first with a pair of runs in the first inning before Montrose tied it up with a pair of their own in the second.
The lead again went in the favor of Honesdale after a second pair of runs turned in by the Dime Bank team to make it 4-2.
Montrose however, opened the game up with five runs in the fourth inning while Honesdale added one in the top of the fifth to make it a 7-5 game.
After that, Montrose took it away with three runs in the fifth and another four in the sixth to bring home the dominating win.
B. Laubach cracked two home runs, added a double and collected eight RBIs to lead Montrose Post 154 to the win.
Churco was the winning pitcher giving up only four hits and three earned runs while walking five and fanning five batters.
Andrew Bovencamp had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored while Leet, Matt Hohn and M. Laubach added a hit and a RBI each.
