Factoryville man charged in child rape

A Factoryville man accused of raping a child in Susquehanna County had his day in court Monday afternoon but it was continued because he did not have an attorney present.

Randy Steven Lawrence, 23, faces first degree felony rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child charges following an alleged incident July 5 in Bridgewater Township.
Charges were filed by State Police Trooper Greg Deck.
According to the police affidavit, Lawrence was discovered locked in a bedroom with the 11-year-old victim at about 1:30 a.m.
The victim said Lawrence had “bumped his thing into me” and told Susquehanna County Children and Youth caseworkers that Lawrence stopped when there was a knock at the bedroom door.
At the scene, Lawrence told Deck that his mother had instructed him not to talk with the police and requested a lawyer.
The victim was also questioned by Deck in the presence of the caseworkers.
Lawrence was arraigned July 5 in front of District Judge Jeffrey Hollister and remanded to the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Judge Hollister continued Lawrence’s hearing to July 19.
