A man who eluded police for months in Susquehanna County turned himself into authorities Monday afternoon.
Bryan Lewis Nye, 38, Montrose, was wanted since March 3 for the alleged sexual assaults of a 15-year-old girl that occurred between January 2009 through February 2010.
Nye surrendered to court officers at the Susquehanna County Courthouse at about 2 p.m., July 19, right before his girlfriend, Carrie Lee Blanton, was scheduled to appear in Montrose District Court to answer charges of her own.
The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify the victims of alleged sexual abuse.
Blanton, 37, of Montrose, was charged last week with felony counts of intimidation of witnesses or victims and hindering the apprehension of Nye.
Blanton was also charged with corruption of minors. She was arraigned Thursday and remanded to the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000.
Blanton waived her preliminary hearing scheduled to be held in District Court in Montrose Monday afternoon. Her bail was modified to $25,000 or 10 percent cash equivalent. All charges against her will move forward to the Court of Common Please.
Nye is being held at the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility on a probation violation. He has not yet been arraigned.
Another woman police say is also a girlfriend of Nye, Stacy Lee Edwards, 32, of Nicholson, was charged in April with a felony count of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Edwards is scheduled to appear Aug. 13 in Susquehanna County Court.
Charges against Blanton stem from incidents in the past weeks in Forest Lake Twp. and Montrose.
According to the affidavit, police allege Blanton, Nye’s live-in girlfriend, located the alleged victim on July 7 and coerced her to write a statement claiming the accusations against Nye were false.
Blanton told the girl that she had terminal cancer and if the girl didn’t drop the charges, a child of Nye’s and Blanton’s would be placed in foster care, according to the affidavit.
Police say Blanton also told the girl that Nye had bought a new Jeep and would give it to her if she dropped the charges.
She also promised the victim that she would get the teen an apartment for her and her boyfriend in the Binghamton, N.Y., area.
On July 15, state police and officers of the Susquehanna County probation and sheriff’s departments attempted to serve a warrant on Nye at his Forest Lake residence.
Blanton then told officers she hadn’t seen Nye since February. However, a child at the residence told police that Nye had been at the home several times during the past week and was driving a black motorcycle.
