I-81 crash wrecks cop car

A state police cruiser was involved in an accident in the southbound lanes on I-81, Lenox, Wednesday morning, July 14.

Tpr. Gerald Powell, 42, Dunmore, sustained a minor injury in the 10:20 a.m. crash.
With emergency lights and sirens activated, the police cruiser approached a vehicle from behind that was also traveling in the left, southbound lane.
According to a police report, driver Elizabeth Easton, 20, of Honey Brook, lost control of her Kia Rio and the police car hit the rear of Easton’s vehicle.
After the initial impact, Easton struck a guard rail on the left side of the road and came to rest facing north in the left lane of the highway.
Powell’s vehicle struck the guard rail on the right side of the road and came to rest, facing north, on I-81.
Harford EMS assisted on the scene.
Cpl. Davis Pope investigated. Easton was charged in the crash.
