Even the wild animals are happy in Owego

On July 19, 2010, Kathy Place captured photos of an interesting interaction between a squirrel and rabbit that was taking place in her yard in Owego.

According to Place, the squirrel was protecting food he decided was his, but the rabbit wasn’t giving up.

Every couple of days Place throws some food out for the wildlife. On this particular day she threw out some corn husks for the rabbit. This appeared to be what the squirrel was protecting, according to Place.

“Watching the rabbit and the squirrel argue over the food was entertaining,” said Place. “I am still laughing at the show they put on, and no one got hurt,” she added. Safety of the backyard animals, she noted, is something that she always watches out for.
