Tomazic, Kameen honored by hometown residents

Forest City gave out its Distinguished Citizen Awards last weekend recognizing native sons and daughters from all walks of life.
For 2010, the honorees were were Dr. David R. Tomazic and Judge Joseph F. Kameen.
The program for the presentation of the award was held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday just prior to the parade with Tom Butler as Master of Ceremonies; invocation by Father David Detzell and a welcome by OHW Chairman Chauncey Zazzera. John Kameen introduced the past Distinguished Citizens who were able to attend the 2010 recognition ceremony.
A native of Vandling, Tomazic graduated from Forest City Regional in 1970 and in 1974 from Villanova University before completing his education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He set up his medical practice in Forest City in 1984 and since that time has been on the staff at Marion Community Hospital, Carbondale; medical director of the Forest City Nursing and Rehab Center; medical director at SCI Waymart.
Tomazic and his wife, the former Margaret Nebzydoski are the parents of three children and they reside on Elkview Drive, Clifford Township. Committee member Tom Butler presented Tomazic his award.
Judge Kameen grew up in Forest City, graduated from Forest City Regional and went on to earn a degree in education from East Stroudsburg University. He taught high school English before making the decision to pursue a career in law. Following his graduation from Dickinson School of Law in 1980 he has practiced law in Allentown and Milford, Pa. It was in 2004 he made a successful ran for the Pike County Judgeship.
Kameen is married to the former Elizabeth Erickson and his family includes four children. Committee member John Kameen presented Judge Kameen his award.
