Meteors building upon success

The Montrose Area girls’ varsity tennis team will look to build upon a winning 6-3 season in 2009, and face off against a tough District II Class AA field.

After only losing one senior in Emily Wesoloski, who will play tennis for Kutztown University, the Meteor team is bringing back plenty of experience.
Returning to the court this year to help the Lady Meteors are seniors Courtney Hinds, Kristy Stankiewicz and Kayla Triebel and junior Gracee Bulger.
Also taking the court for the Meteors are seniors Nicole Holofcuk and Andrea Hinds, junior Cierra Cook and sophomore Ceara Hartman.
Under the direction of coach Jim Hinds, the Meteors will take on tough teams like Scranton Prep, Valley View and Western Wayne on the way toward a top league finish.
“I believe that we have a very competitive team this year, we are also in a very competitive league,” Hinds said. “If the girls focus on playing their game we should have a very good season.”
He will look to Hinds, Triebel, Bulger, Stankiewicz and Hinds to put in solid performances for the Meteor team.
Montrose Area’s girls’ varsity tennis team is comprised of seniors C. Hinds, A. Hinds and Holofcuk, juniors Bulger, Cook and Triebel, sophomores M. Hinds, Hartman, Cook and Elisabeth Escobar and freshman Jennifer Reed.
The Montrose Area girls’ varsity tennis team began its season on Monday against Towanda.
