Blue Ridge’s three principals reported at the Sept. 13 board meeting that the school year was off to a smooth start.
Following an opening presentation about the CAFE sponsored sixth grade Washington, D.C. trip, the board broke for an executive session to discuss a personnel matter that lasted nearly an hour.
The board issued its approval for the student safety coordinator to issue citations for disorderly conduct, per the recommendation of District Judge Peter Janicelli.
The board opted to table the hiring of a high school English teacher so additional interviewing could be done.
After 15 years as the adviser for student council, Tricia Gilboy resigned from the position. Instead of student council, she has taken over as the adviser to the ninth grade class.
High School Principal R. Scott Jeffrey said the school had received a dual enrollment grant that will provide the total tuition of all the students taking the Lackawanna College/Blue Ridge dual enrollment courses.
Blue Ridge Parents Council will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Newly hired Superintendent Bob McTiernan will be present to meet with parents.
