Girls’ volleyball report

Mountain View

The Mountain View girls’ volleyball team took a 3-0 home victory from Susquehanna on Thursday and a 3-1 victory over the Susquehanna Sabers on the road on Tuesday.

Facing Forest City, Mountain View got on the board early with a 25-14 win over the Foresters in the first game to make it 1-0.

Mountain View then followed that up with a 25-16 win in the second game, and capped off the evening with a 25-21 win in the final game.

Kayla Kazmierski registered 10  kills, four aces and three blocks. Christina Voorheis added 15 assists, five kills and three aces while Smantha Knowlton had five assists and three aces.

For Forest City, Sarah Forsette notched 10 service points, three blocks and three kills while Courtney Andrews had two kills, eight assists and eight service points.

Kiersten Collins added five assists, three kills and 10 service points for the Foresters.

On Tuesday in the first match, Susquehanna took a 25-17 win, however, Mountain View struck back with a 25-18 victory to tie the match up at 1-1.

The Eagles continued to dominate with a 25-21 win in the third game before taking home the victory with a 25-19 win in the final game.

Kazmierski had 15 kills and Melissa Monahan had 10 kills to lead Mountain View. Voorheis had 16 assists and Dominique Chadwick had four aces.

Susquehanna was led by Kaitlyn Halesky with seven aces and Brooke Baker with four kills.

Forest City

The Forest City girls’ volleyball team got its season started on a positive note with a 3-0 victory over Blue Ridge at home on Tuesday.

Jessica Strickland had eight aces, four kills and three assists and Kiersten Collins had one aces, nine points and five assists to lead Forest City.

Cree Townsend chipped in with 17 points and three assists while Courtney Andrews had nine assists, two kills and 13 points for the Foresters.

Montrose

Montrose Area’s girls’ volleyball team faced a 3-0 shutout loss from Lackawanna Trail on the road on Tuesday.

In the first game, Lackawanna Trail got out to an early lead with a 25-17 victory, before making it 2-0 with a 25-10 win in the second game.

The Lions then capped off the night with a 25-11 win over the Meteors in the final game.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s girls’ volleyball team faced a 3-0 loss to Dunmore’s Bucks at home on Tuesday.

In the first game the Warriors fall 25-19 to Dunmore, before coming back to again fall 26-24 in an extra points match.

The Warriors were then finished off by Dunmore in a 25-12 loss in the third game.

Chelsea Karabin and Mazie Tyler each had four aces for Elk Lake.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s Saber girls’ volleyball team took a 3-0 victory over the Montrose Meteors in a home match on Thursday.

In the first game, Susquehanna came out to an early lead grabbing a 25-13 victory over the Meteors, and followed it up with a 25-16 win to make it 2-0.

The Sabers then capped off the night with a 25-20 victory over Montrose in the third and final game.

Mary Kemmerer posted seven kills and three aces while Danielle Barnes added five kills and three aces to lead Susquehanna.

Devin Breese also had three kills and two aces for the Sabers.

Marissa Robinson notched six assists and Kate Swingle had seven kills for Montrose.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s girls volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Elk Lake’s Warriors in a home match on Thursday evening.

In the first game, Blue Ridge took a 25-16 victory over the Warriors, but Elk Lake struck back to even up the score with a 25-21 win in the second game.

The Raiders took back the lead in the third game with a 25-17 win over Elk Lake and capped off the victory with a 25-21 win in the final game.

Kaitlyn Krug had three kills and six aces and Ashley Warren had seven assists and five kills to lead Blue Ridge. Lexa Smith chipped in with 15 passes for the Raiders.

Cassie Van Etten had four assists and eight digs for Elk Lake, while Chelsea Karabin had four kills, five assists and five aces. Kati Van Etten had 13 digs for the Warriors.
