Lady Warriors 2-1 on court

The Elk Lake girls’ varsity tennis team faced a 5-0 loss to Scranton Prep at home on Thursday, took a 4-1 win over Holy Cross at home on Wednesday, and brought home a 4-1 victory over Western Wayne on Tuesday.

Facing Prep in singles, Kendra Croker beat Cindy Good, 6-0, 6-2; Emily Wlash downed Hunter Cole, 6-0, 6-0; and Maria Silvone downed Lindsey Shingler, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Grace Reilly-Kate Worthington defeated Kyleen Sisson-Lydia Watkins, 6-0, 6-0; and Annie Tressler-Caroline Comerford bounced Megan Phillips-Leanna Noble, 6-0, 6-2.

On Wednesday in singles action, Good (EL) over Maria Fortesem, 6-3, 6-0; Cole (EL) over Maria Mahon, 6-1, 6-0; Emily Hughes (HC) over Shingler, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.

In doubles, Sisson-Watkins (EL) over Gianna Rogari-Lindsay Greenwood, 6-2, 6-2; Phillips-Noble (EL) over Caroline Dowdell-Jacqueline Bennie, 6-4, 6-3.

Against Western Wayne in singles action, Good defeated Christina Piccolo, 6-0, 6-0; Cole downed Victoria Lanza, 6-1, 6-1; and Elk Lake won the third match by forfeit.

In doubles, Western Wayne’s Brianna Vinton-Sarah Lutat beat Sisson-Watkins, 6-1, 6-0; and Phillips-Noble downed Kim Finkle-Lizzie Caruth, 6-4, 6-4.
