BR’s Mansfield tops Commissioners’ JV race

Blue Ridge junior varsity runner Ethan Mansfield took first place overall at the Lackawanna County Commissioner’s junior varsity race at McDade Park on Saturday.

Mansfield, a junior runner, finished the course in 18:38, 19 seconds ahead of Pittston’s James O’Connor.

Also finishing for Blue Ridge was sophomore Ed Gorick with a 20:24.

Blue Ridge’s boys’ varsity cross country team took seventh place overall out of 19 teams at in the varsity race.

The Raiders had 198 total points, while first place finisher Valley View had 85.

Topping for the Blue Ridge boys was Jake Hinkley with a third place finish at 16:22 while Valley View’s Aaron Wilkinson took first at 15:47.

Also finishing for the Raider boys was Mike Robbs in 10th place at 16:51, TJ Loomis in 39th at 18:14, Patrick Cramer in 70th at 19:33, George Ward in 76th at 19:48, Mark Oakley in 95th at 20:50 and William Miller in 102nd at 20:58.

Forest City entered boys into the varsity race as Matt Terry finished in 35th at 17:57 and Zack Reynolds took 115th at 21:30.

In the girls’ race, Blue Ridge and Forest City each entered competitors as Forest City’s Cathy Cook topped for the locals at 49th with a 22:34 as Molly MacDonald of West Scranton took first at 19:03.

Blue Ridge’s Katie Cramer topped for the Raiders with a 52nd place finish at 22:51

Also finishing for Blue Ridge was Katharina Kuene in 92nd at 25:55 and Katie Drake in 98th at 26:40.

In the junior high girls’ race, Susquehanna took seventh place overall as a team with 232 points as Dallas topped with 48 points.

The Lady Sabers were topped by Ivy Christenson in sixth place at 11:32, followed by Mikayla Hargett in 29th at 12:30, Alyssa Sweeney in 39th at 12:53, Piper Gautier in 69th at 13:26, Mashawna Hargett in 89th at 13:51, Miranda Groover in 108th at 14:45 and Jessica Plutino in 111th at 15:06.

Blue Ridge and Forest City entered individual girls as Lauren Whitney of Blue Ridge topped in 19th at 12:14.

Also finishing for Blue Ridge was Lindsey Rupakus in 111th at 14:21, Charlotte Hall in 119th at 14:31 and Kim Klim in 127th at 14:48.

For Forest City, Lauren Cook took 175th place at 22:14.

In the boys’ junior high race, Susquehanna finished at 17th in the team standings with 473 points while North Pocono topped at 47 points.

Finishing tops for the Sabers was Nick Acosta in 77th place at 12:10 while Brody Dial took first place at 9:38.

Also finishing for the Sabers was Justin Acone in 78th at 12:10, Sal Pelicci in 82nd at 12:15, Jake Smith in 116th at 15:16, Mike Armitage in 120th at 15:45, Justin Stanford in 125th at 16:24 and Tracy Miller in 126th at 16:43.

Forest City and Blue Ridge also entered individual competitors as Forest City’s Caelin Logar finished in 137th at 13:06, Sonny Albright took 149th at 13:30 and Mike Kitchura took 150th at 13:31.

For Blue Ridge, Jacob Davenport took 163rd at 14:23.
