Warriors win Elmira Invitational

Elk Lake’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams pose with a trophy they won after Elmira Invitational on Saturday. Elk Lake’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams had success over the weekend, as the Warriors topped the Elmira Invitational at Newtown Battlefield in Elmira, N.Y.

In the B/C/D classification, the Warrior boys topped a field of 10 schools with a 29 point total as Luke Jones finished in first place at 17:48.

The girls’ team took first in the B/C/D classification with a 48 point total in a pool of 10 schools as Maria Trowbridge finished fourth place overall at 21:42 behind first place Lauren Mullins of Johnson City at 19:27.

Also finishing for the boys’ team was Mike Bedell in second at 17:59, Jeff Horvath in third at 18:16, Sean Carney in 11th at 18:57, Will Bennett in 12th at 19:06, Bryan Grosvenor in 18th at 19:23, Seth Carney in 24th at 20:16, Matt Horvath in 25th at 20:21 and Jason Vermeulen in 35th at 20:58.

On the girls’ side, other top finishes came from Elizabeth Trowbridge in eighth at 22:21, Lainey Bedell in ninth at 22:28, Kirsten Hollister in 16th at 23:13, Abbie Zdancewicz in 19th at 23:32, Cassie Salsman in 36th at 24:56 and Kellie Grosvenor in 37th at 25:00.
