Meteors, Foresters, Sabers tops in golf

Montrose

The Montrose Area golf team took an 8-1 victory over Carbondale at Montrose Country Club on Thursday.

In individual play, Billy Stranburg (M) over Mike McGraw, 3 and 1; Cole Wheaton (M) over Kelsey Vinton, 5 and 3; Lance Nealy (M) over Erik Wallis, 5 and 4; Casey O’Reilly (M) over Cody Mazza, 3 and 2; Jordan Smith (M) over Tom Ruddy, 4 and 3; and Joey Cassarro (CAR) over Anthony Augienta, 3 and 1.

In better-ball, Stranburg-Wheaton (M) over McGraw-Vinton, 5 and 3; Nealy-O’Reilly (M) over Wallis-Mazza, 5 and 4; and Smith-Augienta (M) over Ruddy Cassarro, 3 and 1.

Forest City

The Forest City golf team took an 8.5-.5 victory over Susquehanna on Wednesday and grabbed a 5-4 win over Lakeland on Tuesday at Memorial Links.

On Thursday at Memorial Links, Seth Thomas knocked a hole-in-one on the par-4, 265-yard second hole.

In individual play, Brian Nebzydoski (FC) over Mike Frye, 5 and 4; Nick Luchonok (FC) over Casey Fortune-Squires, 5 and 4; Vince DeLucy (FC) over Dylan Hanes, 4 and 3; Katie Zefran (FC) and Andrew Burdick split; Seth Thomas (FC) over Vince Matta, 2-up; Dom Sparks (FC) over Steve Frye, 3 and 2.

In better-ball, Nebzydoski-Luchonok (FC) over Frye-Squires, 5 and 4; DeLucy-Zefran  (FC) over Hanes-Burdick, 4 and 3; Thomas-Sparks (FC) over Matta-Frye, 2-up.

On Tuesday in individuals, Zefran (FC) over Sean Price, 2 and 1; Mike Brennan (LAK) over DeLucy, 2 and 1; Greg Reeves (LAK) over Luchonok, 5 and 3; Taylor Reeves (LAK) over Kevin Powell, 5 and 3; Sparks (FC) over Fred Tolerico, 5 and 3; Thomas (FC) over Gaetano Zarra, 4 and 2.

The Susquehanna Saber golf team took a 6.5-2.5 victory over Blue Ridge’s Raiders at Golden Oaks on Tuesday.

In individual play Andrew Burdick (S) over Mike Gathany, 1-up; Casey Squires (S) by forfeit; Vince Matta (S)  and Austin French (BR) split; Bike Frye (S) by forfeit; Ben Hepler (BR) over Steve Frye, 2-up; Dylan Haines (S) by forfeit.

In better-ball, Burdick-Squires (S) over Gathany, 1-up; Matta-M.Frye (S) and French (BR) split; S. Frye-Hanes (S) and Hepler (BR) split.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s varsity golf team faced a 7-2 loss to Lackawanna Trail and Conklin Players Club on Thursday and a 9-0 loss from Lakeland at Sleepy Hollow on Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday in individual play, Mike Gathany (BR) over David Boslough, 2 and 1; Brandon Foster (LT) by forfeit; Dom Demarest (LT) over Austin French, 3 and 1; Joel McLaughlin (LT) by forfeit; Andy Dietrick (LT) over Ben Hepler, 2 and 1; Michael Kilmer (LT) by forfeit.

Mountain View’ golf team faced a 5-4 loss from Lackawanna Trail at Rock Creek on Wednesday afternoon.

Elk Lake’s golf team faced a 9-0 loss from Western Wayne at Tall Pines on Wednesday.
