Howell takes silver at USAIGC Nationals

Donna Howell of Great Bend recently took home silver on the beam at the USAIGC National Gymnastics Championship, and will soon head to Manchester, England, for training.

Donna Howell of New Milford had a successful summer competing in gymnastics in competitions across the country.

Howell, 9, the daughter of Vic and Maureen Howell, most recently took silver on the beam at the USAIGC National Championship in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on June 28.

Prior to that, Howell took first place overall in the USAIGC State Championship, held at Techniques Gymnastics, where she trains, on June 5.

Back on May 15, Howell took third place overall in the New York State Championship, held on Long Island, NY.

On Aug. 15, Howell traveled to the International Gymnastics Camp in Stroudsburg, where she met and trained with Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson.

There, Howell was awarded the “Most Dedicated Gymnast” award by Blaine Wilson and Jana Bieger.

On Sunday, Oct. 31, Howell will travel to Sandbach Gymnastics in Manchester, England, for further training.
