Meteor stickgals split week

Montrose Area’s field hockey team faced a 3-0 loss at home from Pittston on Saturday, took a 4-0 loss to Hanover on the road Friday and played to a 1-1 tie with Berwick on the road on Wednesday evening.

On Saturday, Pittston scored a pair of first half goals, and one second half goal to upend the Meteors.

Montrose had four shots on goal and two corners while goalie Amanda Rucker picked up 10 saves.

Against Hanover, two first half goals and two additional second half goals were enough to defeat the Meteors.

Montrose had five shots on goal and seven corners while Rucker had 12 saves.

Berwick’s Chelsea Pruitt scored in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 heading into halftime.

However, with 2:39 remaining on the clock in the second half, Montrose’s Katie Stranburg knocked in a goal assisted by Anna Hamernick to tie it up.

After a scoreless overtime, the game ended in a deadlock.

Montrose had six shots on goal and two corners while Rucker picked up 15 saves on the day.
