Forest City girls fall in second round

The Forest City girls’ soccer team fell to Lakeland on the road Thursday, 3-1, in the second round of District II Class A playoff action after it picked up a first round win on Tuesday, shutting out Carbondale, 3-0.

On Thursday, Lakeland scored first half goals at 3:20 and 19:42 to lead 2-0, before knocking a third goal at 28:37 to pace Forest City 3-0 at halftime.

And despite a goal from Ally Borick at 70:43 in the second half, it wasn’t enough to boost the Foresters.

Forest City had 11 shots on goal and four corners while goalie Katie Yale had seven saves.

Against Carbondale, first half action saw Forest City get on the board at 14:58 with a goal from Meagan Goben off an assist from Kylie Borick.

Goben then scored a second goalie with another assist from K. Borick at 27:48 to lead 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Carly Erdman’s goal off a pass from A. Borick at 53:45 was all the Foresters needed to take the 3-0 win.

Forest City took 29 shots on goal and had six corners as Yale picked up a pair of saves.
