Several local youth hockey players from the area have begun new seasons on the ice for various organizations across the region.

For the Wilkes-Barre junior Pens, Sean Jenkins, a goalie from Tunkhannock, plays for the Midget U16 teams, which started its season in September and is currently 6-2 on the year.

Also playing for that team, is Brett Welsh, a student at Elk Lake, who plays offense as a forward for the team.

Playing on the Jr. Pens Limited U16 team is Liam McClurg of Tunkhannock.

Jenkins, a sophomore, is in his ninth year playing travel hockey, and 10th year overall. The Pens compete in the Delaware Valley Hockey League that travels to Delaware, Philadelphia and Harrisburg among other places.
