Child pornographer sentenced

BY STACI WILSON

A Thompson man will serve at least nine months in a state correctional facility on child pornography charges.

Police discovered Danny Allen Burgess, 52, had on his computer 167 movies and 400 pictures, along with at least 6 DVDs, all containing children under the age of 16 engaged in prohibited sexual acts.

Burgess had pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual abuse to children in Susquehanna County Court.

He was sentenced by President Judge Kenneth Seamans on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Burgess received two concurrent sentences of nine to 30 months in prison and five years probation following the jail time.

Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the users of a peer-to-peer filing sharing network used to download child pornography. That investigation led Burgess’ arrest in April by Agent Derek Fozard, PSP, Computer Crime Unit.

Burgess admitted to the agent that he had used a file sharing network to download the pictures and videos.
