Elk Lake’s swimming and diving teams are diving in for another year of Wyoming Valley Conference action.

After finishing 2-5 on both the boys’ and girls’ sides, coach Ed Murach is hoping to pick up some more wins in the league.

The boys’ team lost three seniors in Hermelo Ramos, Juan Lopez and Luis Navarro, while girls’ team lost Alyssa Allis, Caroline Link and Makenzie Dearborn.

Once again this season Montrose athletes will be joining the Elk Lake team.

Returning to the boys’ team this season is Adam Phillips, who was a silver medalist at districts, along with Brad Grosvenor and Cody Mowry.

For the girls, seniors Chelsea Karabin and Megan Honeyford, along with juniors Abby Zdancewicz and Rina Nikolaidis will be getting back into the pool for the Warriors.

Murach said that the boy’s team this season is a small group, but he hopes the team can be competitive.

“We’re looking for some top 10 finishes at districts,” Murach said. “And I think Adam (Phillips) is going to be a favorite.”

On the girls’ side, Murach said that it is hard to predict what the team will look like, given that they have many new members.

However, he said he expected Zdancewicz should have a strong season.

“Abby (Zdancewicz) is getting her sights on states this season,” Murach said.

Murach said that the Warriors are hoping for a positive season.

“We plan to work hard and see where it takes us,” Murach said.
