Fire engulfed a two-story Springville Twp. home Wednesday afternoon.

Fire personnel reported flames were shooting out of the roof of the Academy St. house when they arrived on the scene.

Springville First Assistant Chief Jason Rinker said the only occupant of the home, Nathan Strohl, arrived at the residence just before the firefighters.

Rinker said the cause of the blaze was not yet known. A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal will be called in to

investigate.

In addition to Springville Volunteer Fire Co., firefighters and apparatus from Montrose, Elk Lake, Meshoppen, Nicholson and Tunkhannock also responded. The Montrose Minute Men were also on scene.

The blaze is the second midday fire destroying a Springville residence in the past two weeks.

On Nov. 29, fire ripped through the David Susz residence on Rt. 29, claiming the life of at least one of the man’s pets.
