Area schools represented at District 9 chorus festival

The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association held its District 9 Chorus Festival on Friday, Jan. 14, at North Pocono High School.

Some 166 students were selected after auditions from more than 35 public and private schools in the region.

Susquehanna County students performing at District Chorus included from Blue Ridge: Theresa Whitehead, Madison Button, Kevin McCarey, Warren Armondi, Ian Robinson, Caleb Watts, and Tama Galu-Edgar; from Elk Lake: Sarita Farnelli, Bri Hollenbeck, and Dereck Swingle; from Forest City: Andrea Burleigh and Eli Sauls; from Montrose Area: Mollie Host, Keenan Small, Jacob Myers, and Tyler Zaleski; from Mountain View: Caroline Miller; and from Susquehanna Community: Sean Leonard.

The concert was directed by Dr. Dennis Williams of the Kutztown University Department of Music faculty. The accompanist was Maria Romero of Tunkhannock Area High School.
