Conklin named Keystone Athlete of Month

JARED CONKLIN

The Keystone College athletic department has announced that Jared Conklin has been named the Keystone College male athlete of the month for January.

Conklin, a freshman from New Milford, and graduate of Blue Ridge High School, is a member of the track and field team.  Conklin has burst onto the scene in the Shot Put and Weight Throw, while making a name for himself nationally in the Shot Put.

In the team’s first event in January at Susquehanna University, Conklin took top honors in the Shot Put with a throw of 46′, while taking fourth in the Weight Throw with a distance of 37-4.5.

Less than a week later he captured another Shot Put title, this time at the Muhlenberg College event.  Conklin made a toss of 48-10, besting his own program mark.  He is ranked second in the Mid-East region in the Shot Put and is among the top 10 freshman throwers in the nation.

He also placed second in Shot Put at the DeShriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, throwing 47-4.25.

The Keystone College Athlete of the Month program honors male and female student-athletes each month from September through April. All monthly recipients are eligible for the Keystone College male and female Athlete of the Year honor which will be awarded at the department’s annual year-end athletic banquet.
