Lady Meteors down Mt. View

The Montrose Area girls’ basketball team took a 55-42 victory over Mountain View on the road on Thursday evening.

The Meteors got ahead 10-8 in the first quarter before outscoring the Eagles 16-13 in the second to hold a 26-21 lead at halftime.

After the break, the Meteors paced the Eagles 17-10 in the third before going 12-11 in the fourth to cap off the victory.

Montrose was led by Dallas Ely who scored 19 points and Katelyn Spellman added 10 for the Meteors.

Megan Kress scored 14 for Mountain View while Kayla Kazmierski added 12 and 16 rebounds for a double-double.

Forest City

The Forest City girls’ basketball team grabbed a 56-27 win over Lackawanna Trail at home on Thursday evening.

The Foresters got ahead early outscoring Trail 14-5 in the first quarter before posting a 13-4 run in the second to lead the Lions 27-9 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Forest City led scoring 19-6 before finishing off the Lions 13-9 in the fourth quarter.

Forest City was led by Cassie Erdmann with 16 points while Bendyk added 13 and Katie Yale had 10.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s girls’ basketball team picked up a 34-19 win over Susquehanna in a game played at Dimock on Thursday night.

The Warriors got ahead in the first pacing the Sabers 6-4, before outscoring Susquehanna 11-3 in the second to hold a 17-7 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Elk Lake was outscored by the Sabers 11-8 in the third, before coming back to post a 9-1 rally in the fourth and take the win.

Mazie Tyler scored a game-high 11 points while C. Tyler chipped in seven and Taylor Watkins and Katie Mitchell each had six.

Susquehanna was paced by B. Herald, Emily Carmody and Mashawna Hargett with four points apiece.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s girls’ basketball team faced a 61-15 loss from Lakeland at an away game on Thursday night.

The Raiders fell behind 16-4 after the first quarter and were then outscored 15-4 by the Chiefs in the second to trail 31-8 at the half.

After halftime, Lakeland outscored the Raiders 17-1 in the third and finished out the win with a 13-6 run over Blue Ridge in the fourth.

The Raiders were led by Jessica Jhingoor with five points while Sam Hall had four and Ashley Warren had three.
