A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty to theft charges Friday in the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas for taking cash and a gold necklace Dec. 16, 2010 from a Hallstead residence.
Vincent Perico, Hallstead, faces up to two years in jail on the misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking charge.
He was scheduled by President Judge Kenneth Seamans to be sentenced on Feb. 24.
According to District Attorney Jason Legg, Perico – along with Jamie Canfield, Hallstead, and Thomas McDermott, Tunkhannock, – took the cash and jewelry from Canfield’s parents’ Park Ave. home.
Burglary, conspiracy and drug possession counts had also been lodged against Perico. Those charges were dropped in a plea deal reached between the defendant and the district attorney’s office.
Canfield, 26, Hallstead, was sentenced to 15 months probation for a Dec. 14 theft charge in connection with an incident in Hallstead. The sentence, handed down Jan. 13 by Judge Seamans, is to run concurrent with a sentence she is currently serving in Broome County, N.Y.
McDermott, 23, Tunkhannock, faces conspiracy, burglary and theft charges as well as a count of receiving stolen property in connection with the Dec. 16 incident.
In addition to those charges, McDermott faces additional conspiracy theft charges stemming from a Jan. 25 incident in Great Bend Twp.
He is scheduled to appear in New Milford District Court on Monday, Feb. 7.
