Montrose Junior Legion

The Montrose Junior Legion ball team started its new season and is being coached by Dan Myers.

Montrose’s junior legion team accepts players from the Montrose, Elk Lake and Blue Ridge school districts.

Myers said that he would be happy if the team ended up with a winning record this season and made it to a playoff game.

“The most important things I hope to achieve for this season is for the boys to learn to play as a team and enjoy the game of baseball,” Myers said.

Montrose’s Junior Legion finished last year with a 5-11 record with a lot of close games not going their way.

Myers said the team will be led by four returning three year players including Damian Dailey, Nick Myers, Korey Stimmel and Matt Lewis.

He said the team also has a solid core of second year players and talented first year players.

Montrose’s Junior Legion team is comprised of Anthony Bartok, Patrick Conboy, Damian Dailey, Dale Harter, Justin Hartman, Nicholas Henry, Matthew Lewis, Nicholas Myers, Matthew Simonds, Ethan Stankiewicz, Korey Stimmel, Michael Vaness, Salvatore Vetri and Kyle Watkins.

Their home games are played at Montrose High School. All games are at 5:30 p.m. unless on Sunday (1 p.m.).
