Raiders cruise past Susquehanna

Blue Ridge’s baseball team took a 2-0 deficit going into the bottom of the fourth inning and turned it into a 12-2 victory over Susquehanna at home on Wednesday in round one of the District II Class A playoffs.

The Raiders scored five runs in the third, added four more in the fourth inning and poured on three insurance runs in the sixth to finish of the Sabers.

Jesse Pruitt threw three perfect innings on the mound for the Raiders to pick up the victory as he struck out eight of the nine batters he faced.

Dylan Pruitt and Jacob Roberts each had four hits, including a double, Matt Laubach went three-for-three and Roberts knocked in three runs.

Mathew Brewer added a double and two RBIs for the Raiders while Devin Hawk had a pair of hits, including a double, an RBI and scored a pair of runs.

For Susquehanna, Greg Price took the pitching loss giving up five hits, five earned runs and a walk while striking out three in two and two-thirds innings.

Nick Marco hit a two-run homer for Susquehanna while Jarred Lawson added a hit for the Sabers.

Susquehanna finishes off its season with a 2-13 overall record while Blue Ridge improved to 8-7.
