Local sluggers named all-stars

BRI HOLLENBECK

GABBY BALTZLEY

GABBY WOLFE

A pair of Elk Lake senior softball players and one Blue Ridge player have been named to the Scranton Times-Tribune softball All-Region team.

Elk Lake’s Gabby Baltzley, a senior catcher, had acrobatic skills on pop fouls on display in the state playoffs and was a solid backstop who rarely gave teams an extra base.

She hit .397 and was fourth in Division III in hits (23) and runs (19) and sixth in doubles (6).

Bri Hollenbeck, a senior second baseman at Elk Lake, had quickness and a strong arm that allowed her to make plays ranging from the middle of the infield to shallow right field.

Hollenbeck was a clutch hitter who won the Warriors’ first state playoff game with a walk-off single. She batted .379 with 22 hits (fifth in Division III) and six doubles (second in Division III).

Gabby Wolfe, a senior utility player for Blue Ridge, was a good defender at shortstop and also fooled hitters as a pitcher with a devastating changeup.

Wolfe was at the top of her game and led the area with a .571 batting average, and topped Division III in RBIs (25), runs (25), hits (32) and home runs (3).
