Before the football season officially starts Monday, Susquehanna has already taken a hit.

Mallery was a standout receiver, running back and defensive back for the Sabers, who are the defending Lackawanna Football Conference Division III champions.

Last season, he earned first-team all-star honors on defense and was named to the second-team on offense. He caught 11 passes for 234 yards, had 276 yards rushing and would have been the team’s top returning scorer with seven touchdowns and 44 points.
