Northeast Small Car Classic set for PennCan

The promotional team of Al Wilcox and Reed Miller has been busy putting together another excite event for the small cars at the Susquehanna County oval.

After last year’s highly successful Northeast Small Car Classic, the promotional team returns with the second annual Northeast Small Car Classic sponsored by Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Dickie Kieper Speed Supply, and Graphix by Billy on Sunday, Sept. 4.

The small car sprint divisions will headline the show once again this season. The 600cc winged sprints along with the popular 270 cc sprints will be on the card. Last September, these two divisions thrilled the Penn Can fans with their side by side racing. Over thirty 600 cc sprints and thirty 270cc sprinters tested the tacky track in July for the Summer National. This race should attract even more competitors for the big Northeast Classic. The purse for this event will be based on the number of cars entered. The minimum guaranteed purse for both divisions of sprint cars will be $750 to win the feature event.

The slingshot will also be on the Sunday card. Over thirty slingers came to Penn Can in July and put on an excellent racing display with side by side racing throughout the field. The slingshots will compete in a twenty lap feature with a minimum of $650 to win the event. The slingshot event will carry national sanctioning and points.

New this year will be the addition of the popular Legend Cars. This race will be open to all Legend Cars competing in the three state area. The Central Pennsylvania Legends as well as the Keystone Legend group and all legend cars competingNew Yorkare all welcome. The event will carry INEX Legend Car sanctioning and run under their rules.

Sponsorship of the small car events will be coming from Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Dickie Kieper Speed Supply,WyalusingValleyRacewayPark, Graphix by Billy, along with Penn Can Speedway.
