The Elk Lake boys’ soccer team faced a 3-2 loss from Valley View in its season opener on the road on Saturday.
Trailing 2-0, Elk Lake tied the game with two goals just minutes apart, one at the end of the first half by Matt Cuomo at 39:00 and the second at the start of the second by Cody Franssen at 41:00 with an assist from Cuomo to make it 2-2.
However, a late penalty kick from Valley View gave the Cougars the victory over the Warriors.
