
Susquehanna County Commissioners MaryAnn Warren, Alan Hall and Michael Giangrieco took office Tuesday, Jan. 3. The commissioners organized, naming Alan Hall as chairman.

With the Republicans regaining the majority in the commissioners’ office following the outcome of the November election, Alan Hall (R-Hallstead), who garnered the highest number of votes, was named chairman of theCountyCommissionersat the Jan. 3 organizational meeting.
Commissioner Michael Giangrieco (R-ForestLake) was named vice-chair as he began his second term in office.
Now in her third term, Commissioner MaryAnn Warren will serve as the minority commissioner.
Board of Commissioner meetings will be held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room in the Courthouse at9 a.m.Salary, Retirement and Election boards will meet before, during or after commissioners’ meetings as necessary.
Board of Assessment Revision meetings for assessment reviews will be held the first Thursday of each month in the Assessment Office in the Courthouse at9 a.m.
The Jail Board meeting will be held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Commissioners’ meeting room at11:30 a.m.
The commissioners also voted to reimburse Hall for expenses, upon submission of receipts, incurred in attending the CCAP (County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania) Conference held in Hershey in November 2011.
All three commissioners were appointed to serve on the County Election Board; Retirement Board; Salary Board; Assessment Revision; Jail Board; Tax Claim; and the Endless Mountain Visitor Bureau.
In addition to those boards, the commissioners were each appointed to serve on the following committees:
Hall: Area Agency on Aging; Barnes-Kasson Hospital Board; Economic Development; Endless Mountains Hospital Board; Military Affairs; Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development; Panning Commission and Planning Dept.; Recycling and Solid Waste; Rover Bounty; and the Women’s Resource Center.
Giangrieco: Communications Committee; Emergency Management; 911; Emergency Medical Services – Susquehanna &BradfordCounties; Hazmat – L.E.P.C.; and the Volunteer Fire Association.
Warren: Agricultural Easement Program; Agricultural Extension Office; Children & Youth Services; Economic Development; Housing & Redevelopment Authority; Lackawanna/Susquehanna Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention Program; Planning Commissioner & Panning Dept.; Recycling & Solid Waste; Trehab; and the Women’s Resource Center.
Sylvia Beamer was reappointed as Chief Clerk.
Linda LaBarbara was reappointed as Public Defender.
Catherine Benedict was reappointed as the Director of Tax Claim.
The next county commissioners’ meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11 at9 a.m.in the Commissioners’ meeting room of the courthouse.
