Days before heading to trial, a Susquehanna man entered guilty pleas Dec. 30 to two misdemeanor counts leveled against him earlier last year in a sexual assault case.

Larry James Phillips Jr. pleaded guilty to corruption of minors and indecent exposure in connection with an incident that occurred about seven years ago in New Milford Twp.

The victim, who took the stand at the March 2011 preliminary hearing in New Milford District Court, said she was about three or four years old at the time of the incident.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of five years. However, District Attorney Jason Legg said a plea agreement had been reached in the case.

In exchange for the plea, Legg will drop the felony counts lodged against Phillips and the Susquehanna man will serve 11-1/2 to 23-1/2 months in jail, followed by five years probation on the counts.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 23 in Susquehanna County Court.

Legg said the victim’s mother had been consulted and agreed with the plea offer.

In May 2004, Phillips had been sentenced to serve up to five years in prison on a aggravated indecent assault charge that stemmed from a June 2003 incident inGreat Bend.
