Former Susquehanna Mayor Roberta Reddon was elected to borough council in November and duiring council meeting on Jan. 3,  was elected president.

Reddon was elected in November as Roberta R. Kelly, but is now professionally using her maiden name. She is also a former county commissioner.

Council member Allen Wolf was reelected in November; Deborah Zayas was elected to a seat she had previously been appointed to; Roy Williams is a former council member who was elected in the fall, and Paul Barnes was elected to his first term.

The council members and Mayor Michael Matis were administered the oath of office by District Judge Jodi Cordner.

Others serving on council are Sue Crawford and Joe Varsik.
Williams was elected vice-president and Varsik is President Pro Tempore. Varsik will serve as council president in the absence of both Reddon and Williams.

The appointment of a vacency board chair was postponed until residents interested in serving could submit their names to borough secretary Diann Robbins and are reviewed by council.

Other appointments were tabled until a Jan. 10 meeting.

At the request of the secretary, council voted to hold the regular council meeting on the second Tuesday of the month with the committee meeting moved to the fourth Tuesday. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.in the council room at the borough building, unless otherwise posted.
Reddon said that council member appointments to the various borough committees will be announced on Jan. 10.

Council did not vote to pass the 2012 budget as new council members expressed a desire to review the budget before it is passed. There was no request to re-open the budget but only to review the budget as presented.
