Rogers honored by housing authority

The Susquehanna County Housing and Redevelopment Authority board of directors and Executive Director Karen Allen took the opportunity at the housing authority’s annual dinner to honor Ann Rogers for her 30 years of service.

Rogersis presently manager of Emerson  Apartments and Emerson Southgate located in Hallstead. Among her previous duties was manager of Prospect Park Apartments, the county’s low income apartment complex in Susquehanna. Ann’s young age when she first started her employment with SCHRA never kept her from running a tight ship as those residing atProspectParkcould attest.

Held in the Winter Garden Restaurant at Elk Mt. Ski Resort on Friday, Jan. 13, the evening included the annual meeting with the election of officers for the board and a dinner for employees, including executive staff and guests.
The present officers  elected at the annual meeting  to serve one more year are as follows: Chairman Joe Matis; Vice-chairman Paul Lukus;  Treasurer Robert Bartron; Secretary Jerry Cronk  and member,  James ‘Ken’ Adams.

Among the guests were: County Commissioner Alan Hall; Attorney Sam Lewis; Architect Eugene Beautz and members of the Development Team who will be working to achieve the fruition of the latest project to be undertaken by SCHRA.

This project will see 24 units of elderly housing in New Milford. Work has already begun with the clearing of the site of the former Southern Tier Plastic Plant. The present county housing for the elderly include Turnpike Terrace, Susquehanna with Pam Ervin as manager; William Penn in Forest City, Vickie Swanson manager; Harford Village in Harford also managed by Swanson; Oakland Heights in Oakland Borough is managed by Karen Allen  and both Emerson  Apartment s, which still have  long waiting lists, Ann Rogers manager.
The Redevelopment Authority under the administration of Bobbie Jo Turner continues  housing rehab; storm sewers; demolition of condemned properties; making public buildings handicapped accessible and numerous other projects that will improve the county.

All of the employees of SCHRA were praised by Chairman Joe Matis, Ececutive Director Allen and Commissioner Hall for the work accomplished over the past year.
