David Lee, a social studies teacher atSusquehannaCommunityHigh Schoolwas the guest speaker at the Susquehanna Chapter of the National Honor Society induction ceremony on March 22.
Lee plans to retire at the end of this school year after 34 years of service to the district. He has taught all courses in the social studies curriculum over his years at SCHS, coached basketball and track, has been class adviser to both junior and senior classes, and served on numerous committees.
He also has been nominated to be listed in Who’s Who Among American High School

Introduced by Alexandria Dominick, Lee congratulated the inductees for meeting the standards necessary for membership in NHS and having the self-respect to expect the best of themselves even when others may not.
“Congratulations to the parents and teachers who have nurtured these students and helped them to become the fine young men and women they are,” Lee said.
He challenged the rest of the student body to aspire to be NHS members, to achieve academically, to get involved, to serve and be leaders.

deplorable housing situation; help the homeless and make a lonely person feel loved. Lee concluded his address by wishing all of the inductees good luck in their future endeavors.
The induction ceremony for the 32 students, under the direction of Bridget O’Neil and Mark Gerchman began with David Hansen leading the pledge to the flag and the singing of the Alma Mater.
Members of the senior class: Thomas Maby, Jeffrey Wayman, Morgan Ofsharick, Courtney Arthur, Stepnanie Skurski and Rex Fullam took part in the lighting ceremony. Each candle represented a tenet of the NHS: Knowledge, Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character and Citizenship.

Hilling closed the ceremony by thanking parents, friends and faculty for attending, Lee for being the guest speaker and Skurski for providing the musical selections.
