Burton plans to participate in a two-day 110 mile ride from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., to Gettysburg which will honor Wounded Warriors April 27-29.
Burton’s daughter, Sarah will be riding with him.
A Penelec lineman and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Burton would appreciate any donations for this Face of America D.C. Ride. He may be contacted by email, ronald.burton24@gmail.com.
This is Burton’s first year for the bike ride and said he plans to run the Marine Corps Marathon in October. His twin brother, Don from Maryland plans to join him for the marathon.
On his stop in Susquehanna, Burton not only received a generous check from the Auxiliary but also checks from American Legion, Post 86 and Sons of the American Legion for a total of $900.
The ride brings distinctive style events to disabled and able-bodied riders across America. The Face of America rides are designed to honor the men and women wounded in the nation’s service. Riders include many wounded warriors as well as currently active military, active duty service and emergency response men and women as well as hundreds of abled-bodied citizens.
Funds raised through the event will pay for participating wounded warriors transportation, hotels, food and support. Any funds remaining will be used for future events for the disabled.
This inspirational ride is put on in cooperation with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and is an opportunity to welcome disabled and able-bodied servicemen and women as teammates and show how much their efforts and sacrifices are appreciated.
