Susquehanna County’s Area Agency on Aging held its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on April 21, at the Hallstead American Legion.
On hand to be with the volunteers were Senior Center Managers: Blue Ridge, Debbie Fenimore; Forest City, Tonya Hance; Lanesboro, Marsha Testa; Montrose, Sandy Decker; Lenoxville, Mary Jane Taylor; Lawton, Kelly Allen. Also attending were substitutes Linda Rowlands and Janet Clark.
Following a welcome by volunteer coordinator Kelly Allen, those attending opened the event with the pledge to the flag and sang “God bless America” with invocation by Mary Jane Taylor.
Following the chicken barbecue lunch, Allen introduced Executive Director Bill Farley; Susquehanna County Commissioners Alan Hall and MaryAnn Warren; and Area Aging advisory board members.
Commissioner Warren spoke on behalf of the commissioners and thanked the volunteers for all they do and presented a copy of Susquehanna’s newest history to a volunteer who had a birthday closest to Commissioner Hall’s birthday, May 31.
Each center manager recognized her group of volunteers with the common refrain, “I don’t know what I would do without the dedicated volunteers who work with me every day the center is open.”
Once again this year the entertainment was provided by Bob Sea Live who sang those old familiar songs known to those attending. To some just ‘toe tapping’ was not enough as they danced and sang between the tables.
Door prizes were distributed and the contributions by area businesses were acknowledged: Dr. Thomas Pascoe, Peoples Neighborhood Bank, From the Heart, Rush Fire Company, Ray’s Market, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Montrose Beverage, Dan Ricci Insurance and Montrose Auto Parts.
