Meteor trio named All-Region

MIKE RAPISARDI

Three Montrose Area sluggers have been named to Scranton Times-Tribune All-Region teams for their performance this spring.

Mike Rapisardi, a senior third baseman, was named to the team for his contribution to the Meteor baseball team.

He batted .540 with 27 hits for the Meteors while driving in 24 runs. Rapisardi had a team-best seven doubles. He was also solid on the mound, going 3-0 (1-0 in the post season) with a 1.71 ERA. This is his first All-Region selection.

Montrose senior first baseman Sara Krupinski helped the Lady Meteors

with a .435 batting average during the regular season, the best of all Lackawanna League first basemen. She helped lead the club to a Division III championship, the school’s first since joining District 2. She had eight hits and eight RBIs in the last four regular season games. This is her first All-Region selection.

Senior Katie Groover batted an area-best .561 with a .947 slugging percentage. She had a 10-game hitting streak, 10 multi-hit games, scored in all 14 league games. She batted .429 on the road and had an incredible .690 mark at home. Groover knocked 32 hits, 25 runs, 21 RBIs, six doubles, three triples and two homeruns. This is her first All-Region selection.
