Last Monday (Nov. 5), Friends of Susquehanna County met at the New Milford Baptist Church to honor one of their own and to distribute funds to county organizations.
One of the original members of Friends of Barnes Kasson Hospital, now Friends of Susquehanna County, Barbara Hinkley, was honored for all she has done and continues to do for the fund raising group that distributes donations to those who apply.
Friends Chair Alice Deutsch presented Hinkley with a citation for her years of service.
According to Deutsch, the honoree is a friend to all who come her way and she shares her time, her talents with those in need in Susquehanna County.
Those who have work with Friends during the past 15 years are aware how hard she has worked to keep Friends moving forward, by allowing members to use her home, various business locations for meetings and events.
As a business owner, Hinkley has gained the respect of the business community and has been a driving force in Friends’ mission to help residents and organizations in the county.
On hand to present recognition from the county was County Commissioner Alan Hall.
Representatives from the organizations attending were: Pam Hennessey, Susquehanna Community Development Association; Dory Browning, True Friends; Rachel Pratt, Interfaith; Cynthia Beeman, Big Brother/Big Sister; Kristin Hamilton, Area Aging; Susan Stone, County Library; Lori Hubal, NEPA Health Centers; Thomas Chamberlain, Creative Adventures for Education; Ann Thompson, Women’s Resource Center; Arline Drann, Care Net; Candace Brown, Caring Cafe; and Cindy Page, Nurse/Family Partnership.
