Hop Bottom creek to be restored

BY PAT FARNELLI

Hop Bottom borough council met in the Hop Bottom Hose Company hall on Thursday, Jan. 3, because their traditional first Tuesday of the month fell on Jan. 1, a federal holiday.

The town hall is still under renovation, and it is hoped that sometime in February, the borough offices will be ready for use, said Deb Norton, secretary.

“It is coming along very nicely,” she said.

During the very brief meeting, a single bid was opened for the creek project, which will repair damage to a sediment basin during the Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee flooding.

The bid submitted by Scranton Craftsman was found to be in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency regulations, and was accepted by council.

Several annual operating resolutions were again adopted, and everything remained exactly the same.

The borough is grateful to the Hop Bottom Hose Company for the use of its hall, and for the positive working association between the two organizations, it was noted.
