Members of the Stone Bridge Lion’s Club, Susquehanna held a pasta dinner at Lakey’s, Front Street on Saturday, February 2.

At the conclusion of the dinner, the committee awarded three great raffle prizes: a $300 Gift Card for the winner’s choice of heating fuel, kerosene or gasoline awarded to Jim Paterno; a $200 Gift Card for Schneider’s Market to Chris Fox; $100 Gift Card for Oakland Corner Pub to Zack Pannepacker.

All gift cards were redeemable at local merchants as an objective of the local club is giving back to the community.

Other club fund raisers are a golf tournament and pig roast in July and a gun raffle in October.

The proceeds from the events finance eye exams and eye glasses for those in need, the main charity of all Lion’s Clubs; same day assistance to local fire victims; availability of hospital equipment for home use; sponsorship for Troop 81 and Pack 81, Boy Scouts of America; co-sponsor annual Halloween Parade with the American Legion Auxiliary; purchase and training in the use of a heart defibrillator, located in Schneider’s Market; donation to youth sports; an annual scholarship to a Susquehanna Community High School senior, with an equal grant to the elementary school.

In December, 2012 this civic organization adopted several local families making their Christmas more enjoyable.

The club is planning another fund raiser for March 15, that will include a ham and cabbage dinner at Lakey’s with a Chinese Auction. All proceeds going to the True Friends Animal Welfare Center in Montrose. Tickets will be available from club members.
