County planners ok proposed fireworks outlet

BY STACI WILSON

A commercial development that will reportedly house a fireworks retail outlet near the New York border received preliminary approval from the Susquehanna County Planning Commission.
The K.C. Small commercial land development in Choconut Twp. had been tabled by the commission at a December meeting; and then denied because of mapping issues at the January meeting.
With those issues addressed, the plan submitted met the county subdivision and land use development ordinance (SALDO) requirements.
The commission also received the driveway permit and sewer waiver for the Williams’ Polish Church Compressor Station plan, in Dimock Twp., approved at the Jan. 31 meeting.
New maps and surveyor’s information was also received for the Endless Mountains Specialties industrial development in Bridgewater Twp. That plan was approved on Feb. 7.
Conditional preliminary approval was granted to the Railway Restaurant, a commercial land development plan in Hallstead on the corner of Franklin and Pine streets.
Before the project receives final approval, a driveway permit is needed as is a letter from the sewer authority stating that they will serve the property.
Woosman Machine Shop, in Great Bend Borough, was also granted conditional preliminary approval for an industrial land development which would allow the company, Ideal Tool, to relocate to a less flood-prone location on Spring St.
