Township steps up Envirothon support

BY STACI WILSON

Forest Lake Township stepped up to provide some funding for a youth, environmental program.

The township agreed, at its Monday, Apr. 1 meeting, to donate $2,500 to this year’s Envirothon competition, coordinated by the Susquehanna County Conservation District, scheduled for May 8.

Supervisor Frank J. Pinkowski said he asked the public in attendance about contributing to the event.

Pinkowski said the supervisors and meeting attendees agreed to make a $2,500 contribution to the event which features teams from local school districts that compete in an array of environmental themed tests during the day.

The supervisor said that he thought the expenditure was a “good investment in our youth and in our area.”

Pinkowski said that he felt the Envirothon was an event that highlighted the purpose of the impact fee revenue received by the township – to return something to the community.
