Locals shine at PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships were held Saturday and Sunday at Bucknell University’s Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Junior Allison Hall (Blue Ridge) was a member of the California, University of Pennsylvania, Vulcan’s distance medley relay team that finished first with a time of 12 minutes, 0.87 seconds. That was 17.69 seconds ahead of the second-place team.

Hall also placed fifth in the 800 in a season-best 2:20.57.

*East Stroudsburg University Senior Meghan Ragard (Blue Ridge) was part of the Warriors’ 4×800 relay that won the PSAC title in a school-record 9:25.29. The previous mark was 9:31.10 set in 2003. Ragard ran the leadoff leg and had a split time of 2:23.20.

*Kutztown University senior Sarah Kimsey (Montrose) was 10th in the triple jump in 35-1¼.

In the final men’s team standings, Shippensburg won with 211 points, followed by East Stroudsburg (109), Slippery Rock (100.5), Lock Haven (85.5), Seton Hill (51), IUP (35), West Chester (34.5), Cal (28), Mansfield (21), Kutztown (18.5) and Bloomsburg (8).

Slippery Rock captured the women’s title with 108 points, followed by East Stroudsburg (86.5), Shippensburg (85.5), Edinboro (70), California (51), Millersville (47), Bloomsburg (40), Mansfield (40), IUP (40), Kutztown (39.5), Seton Hill (38), West Chester (33), Lock Haven (14.5) and Clarion (9).

Big South Championships
Campbell University junior Mike Bedell (Elk Lake) was fourth in the 800 meters in 1:54.95 at the Big South Championships. The Camels finished second in the team standings.
