Info released on water truck crash

Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson released information about two water trucks that overturned July 17 on SR 407 in Lenox Twp.

The trucks were both traveling north when the tanker, driven by Joanne Daniels, 58, Beach Lake, failed to maintain a reasonable speed for the downhill grade, according to police.

Daniels could not slow her truck in time to prevent it from striking a tanker, driven by Joseph Delancy, 47, Berlin, in the rear. Daniels then attempted to go around Delancy’s vehicle, according to the police press report, and struck the other truck again.

Both water trucks then began to spin with Delancy’s truck striking an easterly ditch and overturning.

Daniels vehicle continued north, before rolling over as it spun.

Daniels sustained a moderate injury in the crash and was transported to Geisinger CMC, Scranton, for treatment. Delancy’s injuries were reported as minor and he sought treatment on his own.

Both drivers were treated on the scene by emergency responders from Susquehanna and Lackawanna counties. Clifford and Greenfield ambulances also assisted.

Daniels was cited for following to closely. Tpr. Eric Burns investigated the crash.
