Elk Lake/SCCTC board make hires

The school board serving both the Elk Lake and Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center met Wednesday night to fill some personnel vacancies in advance of the school year that begins September 2.

At its July meeting the Elk Lake board voted to hire Doreen Smeck for an open music position, but it was announced Wednesday she turned the position down. Tonya Boatman of Wyalusing was hired to fill the music vacancy

Kathleen Moyer was hired to fill a special education learning support position with half-time responsibility in the Elk Lake district and halftime in SCCTC.

Caitlyn Good was hired for a special education life skills position in the elementary school.

Patricia Ketchum was hired as a cafeteria full-time employee.

Daniel Zobrowski was hired to teach small engine repair at the career technology center.

Stacy Tyler was hired to a 12-month secretary position and will replace Sue Heed who is retiring in October.

Patsy Gesford and Crystal Masser will split bus radio monitor responsibilities.

It was also announced that a bid for $16,163 from Burmax was accepted for the purchase of cosmetology kits.

The district will be advertising bids for a 5,000-gallon above ground oil storage tank.

During the Elk Lake board meeting, agreements were entered with the Children’s Service Center for the Partial Hospitalization Program and the Therapeutic Educational Program.

The next Elk Lake School Board meeting is Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m.
