Foresters hit strong season start

Forest City’s golfers are undefeated this season, racking up three wins on the links in the opening weeks of play.

The Foresters picked up wins this season over Riverside (Aug. 18), Old Forge and Mid Valley.

Facing Old Forge on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Memorial Links, Nick Rutledge won three out of the last four holes to win his match and lead Forest City to a win.

Forest City took the match, 8½ to ½.

Individuals: Sean McCormick (FC) and Ryan Voyack (OF) split; Adam Kowalewski (FC) over Matt Gallagher, 5 and 3; Noah Fedak (FC) over Nick Pelosi, 3 and 2; Mitchell Blake (FC) over Nick Lisowski, 2-up; Dylan O’Dell (FC) over Cameron Carpenter, 3 and 2; Nick Rutledge (FC) over Brandon Edwards, 3 and 2.

At Mid Valley, Adam Kowalewski and Sean McCormick paced a potent Forest City attack as the Foresters rolled to the 8-1 win on Friday (Aug. 22).

Mountain View picked up a 7-2 win over Mid Valley on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

At Rock Creek, Greg Tracey and Izzy Ficarro won three points in the final group to lead Mountain View.

Mountain View was defeated in the Friday, Aug. 22 match against Lakeland.

Lakeland also delivered a 8-1 loss to Elk Lake in a Lackawanna League Small School Division match at Tall Pines.

Curtis Spila won his individual match for Elk Lake.

Cole Tyler won both points for Elk Lake in the Aug. 20 match with Riverside at Tall Pines.

At Carbondale, Cole Tyler won two points for Elk Lake, in the 6-3 Warrior loss.

Montrose fell to Holy Cross, 6-3, as Ryan McDonald and Matt Valvano swept the last three points of the match Thursday at the Montrose Club.

Caleb Hoal secured two points for Montrose.

Riverside’s Adam Leasure shot a 2-over 35 to lead Riverside.
