Two killed in weekend crashes

Separate accidents clamed the lives of two men over the Labor Day weekend in Susquehanna County.

A South Auburn man was killed Friday (Aug. 29) in an ATV crash on Place Rd., in Auburn Twp. and a Lancaster man died Monday (Sept. 1) in a one-vehicle crash on SR 167 in Bridgewater Twp.

Jeremy Mowry, 38, of South Auburn, was killed when the ATV he was riding in on Place Rd. traveled off the roadway and struck a rock wall and rolled over.

Three others were injured in the crash, including the driver of the 2010 Polaris Ranger 800 Cody Mosher, 23, of Laceyville; Alexander Mowry, of Meshoppen; and an unidentified 12-year-old male, also of Meshoppen.
The crash is still under investigation by PSP, Gibson. Tpr. J.T. Bushta was the investigating trooper on the scene.

Eladio Lopez-Vega was killed in a one-vehicle crash on SR 167 about one-half mile north of Montrose Borough at 4:40 a.m. on Sept. 1.

Lopez-Vega’s vehicle went off the roadway and struck a guide rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

And the driver of a vehicle that crashed through Maloney’s Irish Pub & Family Restaurant at about 3:26 a.m. on Aug. 31 was reported by police to be in stable condition at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, N.Y.

Rebecca Collins, 25, of Susquehanna, lost control of her 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis while she was traveling south on SR 11 in Hallstead. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed through the building.
She was transported by Great Bend-Hallstead Ambulance for treatment.

Tpr. Michael Turlip investigated. PSP, Gibson is asking anyone who has information regarding the crash to call 570-465-3154.

Maloney’s is closed temporarily pending building repairs.
