Montrose deals Forest City first loss

Austin Smith and Brad Wayman won three points in the first group as Montrose handed Forest City its first loss, 6½-2½, in a Lackawanna League Small School Division golf match on Monday Sept. 15) at Montrose Country Club.

Dylan O’Dell had two wins for Forest City.

At Rock Creek, Mountain View fell to Holy Cross, 9-0. The Crusaders clinched a tie for the Small School Division title with the win.

At Golden Oaks, John Ball and Abigail Roe won three points in the final group to lead Blue Ridge to a 5½ – 3½ win over Carbondale area.

Paul Picarcik had two wins for Carbondale Area.

In other high school golf action last week,
On the back nine at Sleepy Hollow, Lakeland took a 6½-2½ victory over Montrose in a Lackawanna League small school match.

Brad Wayman collected an individual win for Montrose; and Kory Morrison split his individual round. Wayman and Austin Smith also collected a better-ball win.

Montrose came back later in the week to claim an 8-1 victory over Old Forge at the Montrose Club.

At Tall Pines, Ben Thompson and Dawson Smales combined for three points and Cole Tyler won his individual match with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole to lead Elk Lake in a 6-3 win over Blue Ridge.

Olivia Rockwell and John Ball each won their individual matches for Blue Ridge.

The Foresters claimed an 8-1 win over Elk Lake.

At Memorial Links, Dylan O’Dell shot 2-under 33 to lead Forest City.

Cole Tyler won his individual match for Elk Lake.
