The Susquehanna County Career and Technology center entered into a Dual Enrollemnt agreement with the Penn College of Technology in Williamsport.

The Dimock campus received a memorandum of understanding Aug. 25 that “offers students at your institution the chance to gain valuable college-level experience while remaining in your building.”

SCCTC Director Alice Davis said the MOU applied only to programs that each school had, and noted for instance, that the cosmetology program would not be so considered.

Board members approved two new clinical supervisors in the Licensed Practical Nurse program, both to be paid $62,400 a year: Karen Killian, who would be replacing the recently resigned Rebecca Dross, and Patricia McKinney.

Davis was give permission to post a full-time para-educator position.

She also shared some recent informational materials about a 70-day intensive health care program, a restaurant menu and food management calendar, a description of services offered by the Massage Therapy Student Clinic, and two ServSafe programs coming up.

Davis was also overly appreciative of a donation by Cabot of $50,000 in materials which would benefit the welding technology program.

She also highlighted that cosmetology students recently had a highly successful ‘Bring your Parents to School Day’ and noted that as a service to veterans during the week of Nov. 10, the cosmetology program would be offering free haircuts to local veterans.

Davis noted that in November SCCTC would be joining hands with the Northern Tier Industrial Education Consortium in offering a Health Careers Day and Energy Careers Day for area students.
